HOW TO APPLY

WHAT IS IT?

The DABB General Day is an industry showcase for Global Majority actors to perform in front of industry professionals such as Agents, Casting Directors, Directors, Producers & Theatres along with receiving feedback - all for FREE. Its a place to showcase, learn and network. The submission process to take part in the DABB General Auditions takes part in a 2 stages; First round is a self tape which consist of a monologue and/or song with introduction. We then slowly and carefully work through each and every submission and pick a selection of actors for the final round which is also by self tape.  After this, the final actors are chosen to take part in this event. A rehearsal day is in place a week before the showcase and this year we will have a networking day the week after.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Actors of all ages and at any stages in their career can apply. You must be an actor from the global majority. 

Black, BESEA, MENA, Central and South American, Polynesian/Pacific Islanders and Asian.

Preferably you are based in one of these cities or surrounding: Bedford, Luton, Basildon, Peterborough, Southend-on-Sea, Norwich, Ipswich, Colchester, Chelmsford, and Cambridge

WHAT TO PREPARE AND HOW TO SUBMIT

Please include the below in one single video tape

 

Brief Introduction:

Please share your name, location, and let us know if you are currently represented by an agent or seeking representation.

 

Monologue:
Submit a video of yourself performing a monologue from a play or film. We ask that you avoid choosing well-known monologues from popular works. The monologue should be no longer than 1 minute 30 seconds. Feel free to select any genre or style, whether contemporary or classical.

 

Song (Optional):
If you have singing talent, you may also submit a video of yourself performing a song. The song should be up to 1 minute 30 seconds long. You can choose a classical or contemporary piece. Please ensure the total duration of both videos does not exceed 3 minutes.

Note: Participation with just a monologue is perfectly acceptable. The song submission is optional.

Important Dates to Remember:

​

  • October 14, 2024: Successful applicants will be contacted by this date with recall information. If you do not hear from us by then, unfortunately, your application was not successful this time. We aim to notify all applicants, but due to time constraints, this may not always be possible.

​

  • November 9, 2024: Rehearsals will be held at Mercury Theatre, Colchester. Please ensure you are available for the entire day.

​

  • November 15, 2024: Colchester DABB Generals Day will take place at Mercury Theatre, Colchester. Availability for the full day is required.

​
