The Casting Department is a key strand of DABB, dedicated to reshaping the performing arts by creating genuine opportunities for actors from Global Majority backgrounds.
Many talented performers face barriers - lack of representation, access, or industry connections. We exist to break those barriers, ensuring actors are seen and valued for their talent, not their proximity to industry privilege. Our work bridges the gap between actor and opportunity, connecting productions with performers who bring depth,
authenticity, and truth to their roles.​

Our Approach
We put actors and story first.Our casting processes are imaginative, curiosity-led, and collaborative - creating rooms where actors can thrive and storytelling flourishes.
1. Discovery
We begin by understanding the story, characters, and vision.We ask the right questions to define tone, authenticity, and casting needs - ensuring the process aligns with your creative goals and values.
2. Talent
We find suitable performers through our network - our mailing list, workshops, industry partnerships, and social channels.We make every audition space inclusive, supportive, and exploratory.
3. Selection
We curate shortlists based on both skill and story authenticity, providing detailed actor profiles, performance notes, and recommendations.
4. Communication
We support productions through offers, negotiations, and contracts - keeping the process transparent and respectful for all involved.
5. Cost
We know budgets matter. Our approach is flexible and transparent, tailored to the size and scope of your project. We’ll work with you to find a structure that supports both your production and the actors at its heart.
