For Global Majority actors to showcase their talent directly to industry professionals, including Acting Agents, Voiceover Agents, Casting Directors across Film, TV, Theatre, Voiceover, Motion Capture and Performance Capture, as well as Directors, Producers & Theatre companies - all of whom can play a key role in shaping an actor’s career. It aims to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create real, meaningful connections between Actors and Industry.

To maintain a safe, supportive and professional environment, our events are invitation-only. We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support of our industry colleagues. Interest in joining the DABB Generals Day panel has grown over the years, and due to limited spaces, we sometimes operate a waiting list.
What is the role of a panel member?
DABB Generals Day is a showcase with a difference. Actors audition specifically for the event rather than training with us or attending as part of a cohort. On the day, selected actors perform their prepared material in front of our panel, who experience the work as an audience in the room. After each performance, the floor opens for panel members to share feedback, ask questions and offer reflections that may be valuable to the actor. It’s a space to exchange perspectives, share industry insight and build meaningful connections.
At its heart, DABB Generals Day brings actors and industry professionals together to learn from one another and discover new possibilities. We’re grateful to everyone who gives their time and expertise to make it such a special experience.
DABB Generals Day is a unique platform for Global Majority actors to showcase their talent in front of an audience of industry professionals.
Each actor has 10 minutes in the room, beginning with a performance before moving into an open conversation. Panel members are invited to share feedback, ask questions and explore the material together. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and supportive, with no such thing as a “wrong” question.
Following the event, panel members can get in touch with us to arrange meetings or express interest in specific actors. We’ve proudly watched performers with little or no industry experience take their first steps in our room and go on to grace the big screens and stages.
More than a showcase, DABB Generals Day is a space for growth, connection and opportunity.
Applications for The DABB Generals Day open approximately eight weeks before the event. Submissions remain open for two weeks, allowing us time to review applications, hold recalls where needed and offer places to selected actors.

THE AUDITION PROCESS
The DABB Generals Day follows a two/three stage audition process: the initial round and the final round.
In the initial round, applicants are required to submit a self-tape featuring a monologue and/or a song. These submissions are thoroughly reviewed, and selected actors progress to the next round, which also involves a self-tape or an in-person recall. In this stage, actors may be asked to perform a different monologue or duologue (depending on what we ask for) & answer questions, or share additional information about themselves. Successful candidates from this round are chosen to participate in the event. - In some years we may have in person auditions/recalls and this will be communicated with you during the process.
To help finalists prepare, a rehearsal day is scheduled before the event, ensuring the actors are ready to showcase their best performances.
Our aim is to notify all applicants of their outcomes. However, due to the high volume of submissions, if individual notifications aren’t feasible, we will make a general announcement on our social media platforms.
The selection process is highly competitive, considering multiple factors to ensure fairness and diversity. In our inaugural year, we received over 250 applications. By last year, this number had grown to more than 950, with only 26 spots available in the showcase. Our comprehensive multi-stage evaluation process allows us to carefully assess each applicant and select the actors who will participate in the event.

This event is specifically for actors from Black, BESEA, MENA, Central and South American, Polynesian/Pacific Islander, and Asian backgrounds.

Applicants may not submit more than one application per year but are welcome to reapply in subsequent years.
