In 2018, DABB began as a simple tweet asking if there was interest in an event to help Global Majority actors break into the performing arts industry. The enthusiastic response gave birth to the DABB Generals Day, an annual event that has since become a cornerstone of our mission. Originally named B.A.M.E., we soon realized the term didn’t align with our values. After thoughtful discussions, we chose DABB—a name that encapsulates our goal of breaking barriers and empowering actors.

Key Milestones in Our Journey:​

• 2018: Suraj launched the first DABB Generals Day, laying the foundation for our work. Conversations with participants and the wider community shaped our identity, and DABB quickly became a symbol of what we do and what actors achieve with us.

• 2019: Grace Gates Orgill joined after volunteering at auditions, and Lauren became part of the team following her participation in the inaugural Generals Day. Both brought dedication and fresh ideas that energized the platform.

• 2018–2024: The DABB Generals Day became an annual must-attend event, growing in popularity and impact. Alongside, we introduced workshops, connecting actors with industry experts and creating opportunities for growth.

• 2020: Suraj invited Sharon Adugna to join the team, bringing a shared vision and enthusiasm.

• 2023: Chenise joined, contributing innovative ideas and a passion for change.

• 2024: DABB officially became DABBOfficial Limited, a pivotal step that allowed us to expand our offerings. We now provide a variety of programs, including one-to-one mentorships, weekly workshops, and more, ensuring actors have the tools and support to thrive.​
